WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
The story follows orphaned Mary Lennox, who is sent from colonial India following an outbreak of plague, to her hermetic, melancholy uncle at his forbidding country estate in the north of England. There she must learn to grow up fast and depend on herself for once, after a life of spoiled luxury. One day she stumbles upon a forgotten key, which unlocks a hidden garden located on the estate's grounds. Aided by the local country boy Dicken, she works with him to bring the garden back to life, as an escape from her miserable existence. But one night she discovers a secret that will have profound changes for the lives of everybody around her.
