Shakespeare's romantic comedy classic
Perhaps Shakespeare's most giddily enjoyable comedy, Twelfth Night is an uproarious gender confusion comedy, featuring one of The Bard's greatest creations, the pompous steward Malvolio. A favorite for theater companies, the story was also memorably adapted for the silver screen, in a version starring Ben Kingsley and Helena Bonham Carter. This Great Lakes Theater Company production is helmed by Drew Barr.
The story begins when Twins Viola and Sebastian are shipwrecked off the coast of Illyria, where they are separated. Presuming Sebastian dead, Viola disguises herself as a man named Cesario, and enters the service of the island's Duke Orsnio. It's the beginning of a series of comic mishaps and misunderstandings, as all the characters fall for someone who isn't quite what they appear...
