Sarah talks Serial
Award-winning journalist and producer of This American Life, the woman behind the most influential podcast in the world "Serial" is touring the country for a series of talks with co creator Julie Snyder. Expect astonishing background stories behind this cultural phenomenon and revelations as Koenig peels back the stories behind the podcast and her own varied and celebrated career as a journalist. Using real examples of her work on Serial, Koenig will show you exactly why nothing is as it first seems.
Koenig started her career as a cub reporter at The East Hampton Star in 1990, shortly after graduating from University of Chicago. Her career since then has taken leaps and bounds including a stint in Russia for ABC news, The Baltimore Sun and The New York Times, to name a few. Her main interests are criminal justice and politics, which informs the majority of her popular podcasts. As a producer for podcast This American life, she won a Peabody Award, and in late 2014, branched off to create Serial, which became the number one podcast on iTunes upon its release. This year TIME magazine named Koenig one of "The 100 Most Influential People".
