A classic of the Stephen King canon, psychological-thriller Misery is a multi-faceted and unadulteratedly terrifying examination of storytelling and the relationship between the writer and their audience. A Dickensian-esque novel within a novel, the work now enjoys a brand new stage adaptation at Great Lakes Hanna Theater for a strictly limited run from February 16th to March 11th 2018.
The story follows novelist Paul Sheldon, an author whose bodice-ripping historical romances have drawn legions of ardent fans. After a terrible car accident, he learns that his saviour nurse Annie Wilkes is a huge fan of his writing. Bed-ridden at her home, Sheldon learns the extent of Wilke's adoration when the nurse demands he be bring back her favorite character Misery Chastain from the dead. Things take a dark turn when she forces the paralyzed Sheldon to reverse Misery's fate, page by painful page...
