Hershey Felder (George Gershwin Alone) brings his acclaimed portrait of Irving Berlin to in , , .The show traces the life of great songwriter from his birth in Czarist Russia, New York City's Lower East Side, where his family fled to escape virulent anti-Semitism. It was here that Irving went on to epitomize the American Dream as he set out to write songs that appealed to the heart and soul of his adopted country, including most famously 'God Bless America'.

From his first hit 'Marie from Sunny Italy' from which he earned just 37 cents in 1907, to Broadway busting hits such as 'Puttin' on the Ritz' and 'There's no Business like Show Business', Berlin created some of the nation's most enduring songs. Expect to hear them, alongside lesser known treasures, and much more in this critically acclaimed love letter to the legendary composer.

God Bless Irving Berlin

Wonderful, warm, intimate show. The music, narrative, design, all combine to present a terrific over-view of Berlin's life and music. Hershey Felder is a man of many, excellent talents. The Royal George is a small, inviting, almost cozy space. However, avoid sitting in the front row of the balcony; you will need a booster seat to see the stage. A caveat: sometimes the sound projection did not reach to the balcony very well. Irving Berlin ranks at or near the top in The Great American Songbook. ... Read more
