Pride and Prejudice

Why see Pride and Prejudice?

Austen's Most Beloved Work

The classic love story comes to the stage, courtesy of Grandbury Theatre Company. Perhaps  Jane Austen's most enduring work, Pride and Prejudice is a winning romance that also searingly satirises the Regency Period's genteel manners and moneyed classes along the the way. Adapted by Jane Kendall, enjoy Lizzie and Darcy's story anew!

What Is The Story?

Quick-witted Elizabeth Bennet is the second eldest of five sisters, all hoping to make a match in the heady world of Regency England, where a woman's worth is measured by the husband she finds. When her older sister Jane attracts the attentions of a very eligible wealthy young man, Lizze is thrown into a new social circle, alongside the haughty Mr Darcy. As their acquaintance grows, these two rivals find themselves questioning first impressions, family, and expectations. Along the way, enjoy Austen's biting view of the fussy society that surrounds them.

Originally published in 1813, Pride and Prejudice has been adapted numerous times for the screen, including a 2005 movie starring Keira Knightley and the universally loved BBC series.
