Cleveland Orchestra - Wagner's Gotterdammerung

Cleveland Orchestra - Wagner's Gotterdammerung at Mandel Concert Hall

Why see Cleveland Orchestra - Wagner's Gotterdammerung?

Myths and Music

Widely considered the peak of operatic opulence, excess and technical excellence, Wagner's Der Ring des Nibelungen, AKA The Ring Cycle, is an astonishing masterwork, spread out over four sweeping epics. Conducted by Franz Welser-Most, The Cleveland Orchestra performs excerpts from the exhilarating climax to the legendary cycle, Gotterdammerung, at Mandel Concert Hall! Alongside the Wagner masterwork, the orchestra will also perform Prokofiev's First Symphony and the American premiere of Olga Neuwirth's Zones of Blue.

The thrilling conclusion to Wagner's Ring Cycle, the beloved Gotterdammerung (The Twilight of the Gods) is a high octane tale of bravery, sacrifice, treachery, destruction, and renewal which features some of the Cycle's most memorable moments, both in terms of orchestration and plot. Witness the grandeur and tension concluding the tale of Norse heroes Siegfried and Brunnhilde, with the fate of Valhalla itself hanging in the balance.
